Seahawks vs Titans Summary
I’m going to say here and now that Pete Carroll has in no way failed his team in this maddening fiasco that unfolded today at home in Seattle. Players failed to trust and remain disciplined in executing the strategies that they had adopted over the offseason.
When things didn’t appear to be working as planned they got caught up in the moment and the emotions of the moment and abandoned everything they had learned and resorted instead to playing like individual talents trying to save the day and in doing so the finely tuned machine that defeated the Colts, left the field, and the Seahawks of the past few seasons took to the field and in doing so proceeded to kick their own asses, for their opponents, and allowed a subpar team to look like a much better team than they are.
I think I can sum up this game in one sentence. In fact I could probably sum it up in one word. Undisciplined! The entire Seahwks team got caught up in the moment of playing in front of there 12vs and everything that Pete the players and the coaches had accomplished over the past offseason went right out the window.
So much time had been invested in drawing all these individual talents together and in molding them into a finaly honed machine, each making their contributions to the whole, and instead they played like starstruck individual talents trying to draw the mire and awe of the 12vs who filled the Lumen stadium, with credits of their exploites headlining sports medias talking heads on the sports shows the next few days.
The Seahawks penalties were adding up like receipts at a grocery checkout isle. The Titans didn’t play a good game today, they didn’t need to, the Seahawks were handing them 1st downs, and more point scoring opportunities than they needed to finish us off. Its been several hours now since this game concluded and I still am shaking my head and mumbling out loud “what the hell were they thinking?”, Then I answer myself “They weren’t!”.
The only positive I can take away from this is that the percision playing machine we saw play a week ago against the Colts, is still in tact and one lost game is not a lost season, not if each and every member of the team, 12vs included can be brutally honest with theselves and each other about their parts and own up that why things got out of control, and that they doubted and mistrusted everything they had learned in this offseason, and resorted to playing the same tired ass old crap that has held us back for a few years now.
If everyone will commit to trust in the newly adopted disciplines introduced by Pete and his coaching staff, and to performing as the highly skilled professionsls they are paid to be, and while we love passionate and committed players with a true love of the game, they can never lose sight of their needs to maintain their composure and self control of their emotions at all times. They ask for and accept considerable sums of money to do a job and if they can enjoy that job while executing their role in it, all the better, but do the job.
I’d sign the Seahawks12th Man pledge if they create one to stick to the script that they ask of us, would you?
