How long have you been a Seahawk fan?

How long have you been a Seahawk fan?

found this article that I saved out of my hometown Sunday Newspaper, that I subscribed to and had delivered to my Permanent Post Army Barracks, where I was serving with the “Big Red 1, 1st Infantry Division”;

 Seahawks SEATTLE (AP) have been engaged in  The weighty business of choosing a name for the Seattle National Football League Seahawks as its nickname The name goes along with the teams colors of blue, green and silver grey. The  person who originally submitted the team name Seahawks, would be awarded a pair of season tickets.

No uniform design has been selected, as of this writing, June 18, 1975. I had submitted my suggestion, and then responded to voting in a process of elimination, until the majority of fans had finally arrived at the Team being named The Seattle Seahawks.

My submitted suggestion was The Seattle Sailors, it actually got a lot of votes, but even I loved the name Seahawks the first time I spotted it on the final name elimination vote, and did vote for it in the final vote count.

I was posted at Ft Riley, Kansas so a pair of season tickets would have done me little good at that time in my life anyways. Now I’d give anything for season tickets, at a time in life where I have time to go to live games in Seattle.

I just reconnected with my childhood best friend after 50 years, and wouldn’t you know it, he’s almost as big a Seahawk fan as I am. I’d love to get together and go to watch our Seahawks play at home.
Anyway I stumbled across the article above and thought I’d float a post to see how many of you were around from the beginning?

Share your Seahawk memories with all of us sometime. For a lot of us being a 12 isn’t a thing, it’s a way of life, Go Seahawks.
