The Seattle Seahawks have become the NFL’s favorite Prime Time Team of the 2020 Season, Intentional or not? Who knows, who cares, the fact is that everytime they take the field, you can bet your going to watch a game worth watching no matter if they win or lose, the crowd will get their every pennies worth.

Sunday Night Prime Time, Thursday Night Prime Time, Monday Night Prime Time, the Seahawks have been invited to play in Prime Time by the NFL, when scheduling changes and have never shied away, not only have they answered those calls but they have shine in those moments and have on every occassion, given American Football Fans the most exciting games of the year.

.The Seahawks hope to have many of their key players healed up and ready to play as continue their way into the most important part of the 2020 season. Sports Media Talking Heads will tell you that the Seahawks have the easiest remaining schedule in the NFL, don’t you believe it for one second and more importantly they better not either.

The Seahwks are coming full circle when they most need to. This season with all it’s oddities due to the Covid19 Pandemic and America’s political and social upheaval and uprising and the resulting absence of fans in the seats of NFL stadiums, most importantly at what is now dubbed Lumen Stadium, in the Emerald City, has denied our Seahawks of their 12th Man, in the traditional setting, but they need to know “loud and clear” that their 12th Man still very much alive and well, and that we are there with them in spirit wherever they play.

I’m amazed that the Seahawks have managed to remain Covid19 free this season and that the NFL has managed to bring America’s NFL football fans some relief and sense of normality, in a time that there is so little of it. I still have to wonder if some of our “injured” players are not quietly battling through cases of Covid19 away from the publics eyes.

Players like Chris Carson and Shaquill Griffin, who have historically played through infjury and nave seldom ever set out, knowing in the NFL that sometimes opens doors for other players to steal away your position in your absence. Chris Carson more than most. Chris came back following an injury early in his career made it clear to everyone that he was looking to take the lead RB position of the Seahawks and  that he would not be denied.

In any event  its looking very promising that the Seahawks will have the majority of their roster ready to play on Monday night and the timing couldn’t be better. Players that have filled in on defense and offense that have stood out and make their presence felt on the field, need to be kept in the play calling and not just dismissed into oblivion.. .  They came thru for the Seahawks when they were called upon and the Seahawks need to honor their contributions.

I realize that there are only 53  players at a time allowed on the roster, and that some players will need to  be returned to the Practice Squad, but some players showed that they need to be kept on the active roster wherever possible. I  don’t need to single them out their stats speak for themselves.

The Eagles greatest advantage, on paper is with thier defense, presently ranked 16th overall against the Seahawks who are ranked 29th overall, which is truly misleading. I say that because when you step back and look at the defensive cast of characters that the Seahawks have assembled in its 2020 lineup, there isn’t a defensive coach in all of the NFL that isn’t drooling over what the Seahawks have available to them, the same could be said about the Seahawks defensive head coach, Kenny Norton, who has unjustly been blamed by many for the tough luck that has besieged the Seahawks defense for the majority of the seasons first half.

Our defense is finally a team, having arrived in it’s last matchup, as a team that can now play instinctively, being familiar aind in tund with each other, so much so that they know in advance what each other are going to do before the ball is snapped, a critical trust factor that is now in place.  Carlos Dunlap has moved into the defense almost as though he’d always played with them, a rarity in the NFL but one that he has demonstrated he’s capable of.

We have played nearly half the season with Tre Flowers, necessarily having to fill in at the weakside CB position and has been overwhelmed and outplayed there all season long as well. Tre gives it his all, but it’s clearly not enough.  Quinton Dunbar is thought to be well enough to take that position on Monday Night, Jamal Adams is also thought to be mended up and able to play, players like Reed, Ugo Amadi, Cody Barton, are all reported as healthy and ready to play.

The mechanics, philosophy and execution of the Seahawks defense continues to be the one and the same as that one that was once dubbed the Legion of Boom, and that still lies just under the surface of being reborn and reclaiming it’s rightful place as the number one ranked defensive unit in all of the NFL, and that led the Seahawks to a Super Bowl win and that has kept them in contention for several years now.

I know that there are a few of us who believe in Kenny Norton and Pete Carroll who is the real master mind behind the Seahawks Defense, and the infamous LOB. The LOB was not a cast of characters, although it required that a cast of characters, all capable of playing football at an elite level, and more importantly a collective of players who over time developed an instinctive knowledge and trust in each other,  knowing in advance what each would do given any circumstance, allowing them to rise up and play at a higher level so that their opponents were stopped at every turn.

In the Seahawks championship seasons, their defense has consistently contributed to the gams scoring successes almost equal to their offensive counter part.   When the Seahawks defense has been able to consistently turn possession of the ball over 3 or 4 times per game, that result in either their scoring points or Russell scoring points as a result of those turnover opportunities that the defense has presented him with, they are unbeatable.

At this moment in time, the Seahawks defense possesses the players, the coaches and the bond that they had eluded them for the last couple of seasons, but that they have recaptured and reclaimed for themselves will take the field and reintroduce NFL to the Legion of Boom and become the envy of the NFL as they one were.

There have been sparks and glimmers of the LOB, in their last game, even playing without many of their team, they started to dominate their opponents both on the ground and in the air. Their most glaring shortcoming has been in their secondary and their pass defense.

When you consider that the Seahawk’s defense has been playing the benefit of their key CB’s on either side of the field, it is amazing that they have done as well as they have. In Monday Nights Game look for Griffin and Dunbar to put on a clinic in defense as they coordinate and synchronize with each other and the rest of their secondary to completely outclass the Eagles air game, and the Seahawks shut down their running game, bringing their signature pressure on the QB, forcing turnovers, by forcing fumbles and causing him to take chances to the air under pressure that result in multiple interceptions.

Does that mean that Russell Wilson and the Seahawks are going to dominate and embarrass the Eagles but outclassing them at every turn? I wish I could say so but here is maybe the greatest concern or issue tha the Seahawks have to overcome in order to become the Super Bowl winning dynasty that they are destined to be.

They have to give themselves permission to be great, and to outclass their opponents like thy are perfectly capable of and prepared to do. Russell seems to thrive on gettinghimeslf into these nearly impossible scenarios, where the Seahawks are forced to fight every second of every game to put another win in their season record.

I love the thrilling Cardiac Finishes that Russell gives us again and again. So often so that most of us have come to expect them an almost feel like something is wrong if we win to easily.  We deserve to win and to make it look easy in the process. We have the best air assault line up in all of the NFL, our defense is trully all that, and is capable of shutting down the run and pass games of every NFL team they face.

I’ll add to this pre-game write up before the Seahawks take the field on Monday Night, With News that Covid19 Vaccinations have been approved and scheduled to begin delivery to the American public beginning December 9th, 2020, there is still some hope that we might get to attent some live games before the season is ended.

It would so nice to see Lumen stadium filled to max capacity even all of it’s standing room filled, and let them feel that 12th Man Magic that can not be mimicked or duplicated anywhere else, and that we truly have their backs.
